Or you can use software, like SEO Elite or IPB, both of this programs will show you websites that link to your competitors or you can perform search by keyword. If you don’t want to spend cash or don’t want to buy this programs then you should improvise with this website: http://www.bad-neighborhood.com/text-link-tool.htm. this website is used to find bad neighborhoods, doh I don’t think its important to find that nor I say this tool provide correct information, but you can use it to see which website is linking to what websites, meaning you can see with who your competitors have link exchange so you can contact them too. Just type your competitor domain name and you will get list of websites.Now that we answer your first question, it is time to answer second question. how to contact them.
On forums you will just private message them or write in topic that you want to link exchange. What you need to write: well you need to give as much information as possible, don’t spend time on PM me posts because true webmasters wont PM you. Include your website title and domain name, Alexa, page rank, how many visitors per day you receive. this information will show that your serious and that you know what your doing. Same information goes in email when you are contacting webmasters trough email. Also you need to search websites if they have some kind of contact form, many websites have so use it.
