A top-level domain, or TLD, is the letter combination that comes after the final dot in a website address. The most common TLD used are .com and .net. Some countries also get their own TLD such as .mx for Mexico; .au for Australia, etc. Colombia was fortunate to own .co, which is another top TLD in the world. However, .co also used commonly as abbreviations of “corporation,” “company,” and “commercial” that related to money. Because of this, Calle, who own a “virtual real-estate” company called STRAAT investments and his team were assigned to prepare a bid package and business plan that treated the .co domain as a valuable national asset and symbol of national pride – the export of which would only reflect positively on Colombia.
After begun the marketing campaign, the biggest challenge of Challe is who will buy the domain? It may be nobody or may be used wrongly by spammer. However, they successful attracted some big companies to own .com TLD such as Twitter (t.co), Politico (politi.co), Overstock (o.co) and registered over 300,000 domains in a week.
Yeah pretty decent top level domain.
