GoDaddy is the world’s largest domain name registrar and currently has more than 43 million domains under management. It is surprisingly that GoDaddy.com is put on auction block. GoDaddy.com is founded by Bob Parsons on 1997 which is based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Bob Parsons is described as a man that is “not shy to speak his mind.” GoDaddy.com is not just simply a domain name registrar, it is as well known for its edgy advertising. Example, Super Bowl commercials and ads featuring different “Go Daddy Girls,” including racing car driver Danica Patrick. Besides, GoDaddy.com also sells e-commerce, security and other services to people and businesses looking to manage their online presence.
At year 2009, GoDaddy.com already reaches the revenue between $750 million and $800 million from its services. The other two smaller domain name registrar, Register.com and Network Solutions are also located on private-equity’s hands. Register.com was sold to Web.com Inc for $135 million while Network Solutions is owned by General Atlantic Partners. GoDaddy.com is expected to reach the bid worth more than $1 billion in the auction.
Thats alot of money.
