ICANN who is informationNot long ago some movie site such as TVShack.net, Movies-Links.TV, FilesPump.com, Now-Movies.com, etc had been seized by US Government because of cracking down on Internet piracy and counterfeiting. The US Government still continue their seizure action and now The Pirate Bay and MegaUpload domains are on the target list. However, domain seizures is not something new and over 140 domains related to online gambling had been seized by Governor of Kentucky since 2008.

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the body responsible for managing the web’s DNS system to ensure that users of the Internet can find websites by using domain names. However, there is a report from Internet policy and security research group KnujOn which released on last month show that a lot of Internet domain registrars (who sell domains to the public) could be violating their agreements with ICANN, including but not limited to the blocking of Whois information.

Is your registrar blocking whois information?
