According to a study from State of UK Business Websites 2010, carried out by Analytics SEO and commissioned by Thomson Local, there are 47% of SME websites having either very basic or no SEO work at all. 1,001 SME websites are involved in this study and range of SEO criteria, including indexing in search engines, and signs of onsite optimization were compared on these websites. Besides, this study also show that size of company is directly correlative with level of SEO; larger company will be better optimized sites while 70% of companies that have less than 50 employees do not take serious in SEO.
Furthermore, 35% business websites do not implement SEO basic and having problems such as no unique page titles, and lacked unique page descriptions. From this study, it can show that some small businesses still do not realize the power of SEO and do not understand how much SEO can help them. Also, some companies are doing the SEO basic only but do not run an effective campaign which could make a big difference on their business.
Thats why big business companies have better sites.
