Followed by Tea Party Patriots, here is another company that trying to protect their trademark on the Internet, that is Rapidshare. Rapidshare had filled in to World Intellectual Property Organization to take back some domain names that abuse its trademark and offered unfair competition. This file storage company had successful to take back some of its complaints, but not all. A few examples that taken over by Rapidshare are music-rapidshare.com, rapidshareprime.net, rapidshare-catalog.com, full-rapidshare.com, etc.

“We are extending our efforts to proceed against linking-sites, against so-called Rapidshare search engines and against individuals who abuse our trademark to distribute copyright protected content,” wrote by former Rapidshare CEO Bobby Chang. It is easy to differentiate which domain names are abusing their trademark, that is as long as the words “Rapidshare” shown in the link. The word ‘rapid’ commonly used in business website since it mean fast so it is not accepted by World Intellectual Property Organization if only words Rapid used in the link.

Rapidshare and other companies are really using they trademark right to take some domains, be careful guys and girls.
